HO CHI MINH CITY -- Ho Chi Minh City has broken ground on a second metro line, after spending more than a decade building the first, as Vietnam makes a renewed push to convince investors that infrastructure is a priority.
The $2 billion project got underway on Saturday, the Management Authority for Urban Railways said, five months before the motorbike-clogged city plans to open its first metro line. Work on the project comes as the city strains to catch up to the rest of the region, where even latecomer Jakarta has already put trains into service.
