BANGKOK/HONG KONG -- Melco Resorts & Entertainment, a Hong Kong-based operator of integrated resorts (IR), is preparing to enter Thailand as the country moves toward legalization, eyeing the market's potential to become the leading industry hub for Southeast Asia.
In January, Melco CEO Lawrence Ho announced plans to pursue a license to operate an integrated resort in Thailand once casinos are legalized. The company has already set up a Thai subsidiary to study to feasibility of its plans.
