BANGKOK -- The Thai government's extension of nightlife hours substantially boosted tourism and spurred spending during the New Year's celebrations and is likely to attract more tourists during the long upcoming Chinese New Year holidays.
Starting from Dec. 15, the cabinet approved letting bars, nightclubs and other entertainment venues stay open until 4 a.m., from the previous 2 a.m., in a bid to attract more nighttime tourist spending.
