OSAKA -- As Japan welcomes more foreign visitors, some smaller companies are boosting offerings for affluent travelers, including a hot-spring resort's plans for a three-night stay for as much as 15 million yen ($105,000).

A record 36.87 million foreigners visited Japan in 2024, according to the Japan National Tourism Organization. For January to March of 2025, the tally exceeded 10 million for the first time on a quarterly basis.
