TOKYO -- U.K.-based hotel chain IHG Hotels and Resorts announced Thursday that The Windsor Hotel Toya Resort & Spa, a luxury hotel in Hokkaido, will join its network, the latest example of the hospitality group's expansion in Japan.

The 386-room hotel is located beside Lake Toya, a volcanic caldera lake in the southwestern part of Japan's northernmost large island of Hokkaido. The hotel was the venue for a Group of Eight -- G7 plus Russia -- summit in 2008.
