Japan Airlines reports first quarterly net profit in three years

Company says recovery 'steady' but yen and fuel cost uncertainties remain

TOKYO -- Japan Airlines has logged its first quarterly net profit in nearly three years as it emerges from the bruising effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company said on Tuesday.

Japan's second-largest airline by revenue said it expects domestic travel to rebound to nearly pre-pandemic levels by March, though a recovery in international demand, particularly from China, remains further off.
