TOKYO -- As inbound tourism to Japan rebounds from the COVID-induced slump, some businesses are offering delivery services to overseas tourists that allow them to ship suitcases and other heavy luggage back home or to other destinations in Japan.

Tobu Railway has partnered with Osaka-based logistic company Operation System Service (OSS) to provide the service at Asakusa Tobu Hotel in Tokyo. Guests have their baggage sized and weighed, then tell the hotel where they want it delivered. The hotel inputs the information into the OSS website and has a local post office pick up the baggage. After guests pay the charges, they can travel light, with OSS taking care of delivery, even to overseas destinations.
