TOKYO -- Japan's Pocketalk, a developer of mobile translation devices, is launching a smartphone-based service in February that simultaneously translates Japanese into as many as 75 languages including English and Chinese, Nikkei has learned, letting tour guides speak to groups with mixed languages.

The rapid increase in foreign visitors to Japan has left the tourism industry in a labor crunch, which could jeopardize business opportunities.
