NAGASAKI, Japan -- Nagasaki Stadium City (NSC), a big multi-purpose complex built by TV shopping giant Japanet Holdings, officially opened on Oct. 14, arousing expectations that it will help revive economic activity in the city.

The centerpiece is 20,000-seat Peace Stadium, home to the V-Varen Nagasaki soccer club currently in the J. League's second division, but the complex includes other attractions and businesses designed to create flows of visitors even on weekdays when no major events are being held.
