Okura Hotels to open resort on Vietnam's Phu Quoc island

Japanese hotelier's first resort slated to launch as early as 2027

The Vietnamese island of Phu Quoc is known for its white-sand beaches.

TOKYO -- Japan's Okura Hotels & Resorts plans to launch its first resort hotel as early as 2027 in Vietnam, moving to ramp up investment abroad as travel demand hit by the COVID-19 pandemic picks up.

The facility will be located on the southern island of Phu Quoc, which is off the Cambodian coast and about an hour by plane from Ho Chi Minh City.
