MANILA -- Philippine real estate developer DoubleDragon Properties said it will open a hotel in Japan's Hokkaido prefecture, marking its first overseas expansion, with the aim of taking advantage of the rebound in tourism demand after COVID-19 travel restrictions are eased.

The company, which operates the Hotel 101 chain, said its real estate arm had acquired a 9,000-sq.-meter plot in the town of Kutchan, next to the renowned resort town of Niseko. It did not disclose the opening date or the amount of the investment.
