TOKYO -- Japanese visitors to the Philippines increased 27% on the year in 2024, official Philippine statistics show, roughly triple the overall growth in the Southeast Asian nation's inbound traffic from foreigners.

The Department of Tourism reported 383,719 arrivals by Japanese nationals. Although the weak yen has impacted overseas travel from Japan, demand is strong for nearby destinations in Asia, thanks to the relatively affordable travel costs.
