TOKYO -- Tourists have been flooding back to Japan since the borders reopened after the pandemic, but most are now just hitting Tokyo and not seeing the rest of the country.
Favorable conditions such as the weak yen have helped boost Japan as a travel destination, with 2.16 million foreign visitors in August -- about 86% of the 2019 pre-COVID level, according to Japan National Tourism Organization data.
