TOKYO -- Fast Retailing, the parent of Japanese clothing retailer Uniqlo, has come under fire after a Hong Kong-based nongovernmental organization criticized it for harsh working conditions at its supplier factories in China.

Students and Scholars Against Corporate Misbehavior, or Sacom, on Thursday held a press conference in Tokyo to tell of its findings. Sacom members said they had worked at two Fast Retailing-owned factories in China's Guangdong Province. While on the job and under cover, they also interviewed more than 30 workers.
