Mai Linh's fleet of traditional taxis in Hanoi will soon get an infusion of 100 electric zero emission vehicles from France to launch Vietnam’s first eco-car project.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- Mai Linh Group, the biggest taxi company in Vietnam, plans to take its 10,000 gasoline-fueled taxis electric over the next decade to reduce pollution and cut gasoline consumption.

The conversion is the first eco-car project in Vietnam, which has some 3 million cars and has committed to cutting greenhouse gases 8% by 2030.
