China Vanke Co., Ltd.

Company Background

China Vanke is China's largest property developer and is based in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. It continued to rank first in the country's realestate market in terms of sales for a fourth straight year through 2013. It was overtaken by the Greenland Group, a major state-owned Chinese property company, in 2014, though many Chinese have faith in Vanke believing it to be "one of China's largest property companies." The company listed its shares on the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing in June 2014.

Founded in 1984, Vanke sells new condominiums in Guangdong Province as well as big cities such as Shanghai, Beijing and Chengdu. China's real estate boom helped it grow dramatically. The company also tapped into overseas markets, engaging in high-rise condominium projects in San Francisco in 2013 and in Manhattan, New York in 2014. It is building a foundation that can earn a profit even amid the country's sluggish property market.

Founder and chairman Wang Shi handed over control of Vanke to President Yu Liang. Wang has complete trust in Yu, who is a graduate of Peking University.
