DMCI Holdings, Inc.

Company Background

DMCI Holdings is a major Philippine infrastructure conglomerate founded by Filipino-Chinese businessman Isidro Consunji, who served as transportation and public works minister during the Ferdinand Marcos administration in the 1970s. DMCI Holdings was incorporated on March 8, 1995, as a holding company of the Consunji family. It was listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange on Dec. 18 the same year.

The company has five operating subsidiaries, namely: D.M. Consunji (construction services), DMCI Project Developers (real estate development), Semirara Mining (coal mining), DMCI Mining (nickel mining), and DMCI Power (power generation). It also has affiliates in water distribution, DMCI-MPIC Water Company, and road infrastructure, Private Infra Dev.

The company is investing heavily in the expansion of its power generation capacity on the back of rising demand for electricity in the Philippines. The company is also evaluating plans for regional expansion. For instance, DMCI Homes officials in 2013 went to Myanmar to look for opportunities in the residential sector.
