Company Background
Swire Pacific is a Hong Kong conglomerate with a workforce of over 130,000 staff around the world. It operates business units in the areas of property development, aviation, marine services, beverages and trading. John Slosar became its chairman in 2014. U.K-based John Swire & Sons holds a 49% stake in Swire Pacific.
The conglomerate owns 82% of Hong Kong-listed Swire Properties, one of the region's leading property developers. Swire Properties operates offices properties, hotels, and major shopping malls in Hong Kong, mainland China, and the U.S.
The company has a 45% stake in Cathay Pacific Airways, the special administrative region's flag carrier, offering passenger and cargo services to about 200 cities worldwide. Its marine services unit, Swire Pacific Offshore, owns and operates around 90 offshore support vessels.
Swire's beverages unit has had a strategic partnership with Coca-Cola since the 1960s, and became one of the largest franchises in the world. It manufactures 57 brands and supplies a franchise population of more than 450 million people. Its sales territories include the U.S., Hong Kong, Taiwan and seven provinces in mainland China.
Its trading and industrial division includes automotive trading in Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan, Malaysia. It also operates wholesale and retail sales of casual shoes, apparel and accessories across China.
