TOKYO -- The 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations are working on further steps to ensure the free flow of goods and services within the region and with the rest of the world, following the launch of the ASEAN Economic Community at the end of last year.
ASEAN Secretary-General Le Luong Minh on Monday said the integration scheme had helped the region liberalize its markets, as evidenced by the "virtual" elimination of tariffs on goods traded among the ASEAN member states.
