BOJ leaves growth ball in government's court

TOKYO -- Japanese government officials praised the Bank of Japan's new monetary policy approach Wednesday, indicating a willingness to accept the possibility of higher interest payments in exchange for sustainable easing. But with an escape from deflation still a long way off and the central bank's arsenal running low, the government will need to deliver on long-promised efforts to engineer growth.
