TOKYO - Business sentiment among Japan's large manufacturers improved modestly for the first time in two quarters, the Bank of Japan's (BOJ) latest Tankan survey showed Friday.

The headline diffusion index (DI) among large manufacturers was at plus 14 for the October-December quarter, compared with plus 13 in the July-September quarter. The median forecast in a QUICK survey of economists was plus 12.
