HONG KONG -- China's economy is expected to grow 5% in 2022, according to an average of forecasts from 30 economists in a March survey by Nikkei and Nikkei Quick News.

The spread of COVID-19 and soaring energy prices triggered by the Ukraine crisis are causing headwinds, casting uncertainty on China's official growth target of "around 5.5%" for 2022.
