China deflation signs deepen with latest consumer price data

November brings 2nd month of declines, while core index looks weak

BEIJING -- Chinese consumer prices have fallen for a second straight month, adding to signs that deflation may be setting in amid an uncertain job market.

The consumer price index dropped 0.5% on the year in November, the National Bureau of Statistics reported Saturday, for the largest decline since November 2020.
