SHANGHAI -- The Chinese Communist Party's Politburo, the country's top decision-making body, on Monday called for a "more proactive" fiscal policy in 2025, as the country battles an economic slowdown.

The meeting pointed to a "more proactive fiscal policy and moderately accommodative monetary policy" being implemented next year, according to a readout by state news agency Xinhua. The Politburo also mentioned that the country needs to "vigorously boost consumption" and "comprehensively expand domestic demand," as well as "stabilize the property and stock markets."
