SHANGHAI -- China's economic recovery picked up slightly in October despite falling business confidence, government data published Wednesday showed.

Industrial production increased 4.6% in October from a year earlier, marginally more than the previous month's rise of 4.5%, according to the data. That reflects a drop in the benchmark purchasing managers' index on subdued new export orders.
