TOKYO -- Corporate Japan's earnings have improved thanks to a recovering global economy and structural reforms. Following is a comparison of the net profits that major listed companies logged in the July-September period.

Despite their improved earnings, Japanese companies still lag far behind their similarly ranked U.S. counterparts.
