MANILA --When President Rodrigo Duterte declared on Oct. 20 his "separation" from the United States at a business forum in Beijing, it sent a shiver through business process outsourcing companies in the Philippines.

The Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines, an industry lobby, asked for talks with the president the next day.
