Export deals at China's Canton Fair climb 10% to $25bn

Twice-yearly expo offer clues on Chinese trade, with U.S. election seen having impact

GUANGZHOU -- The China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, closed here Monday with nearly $25 billion worth of deals signed, a 10% jump from the previous fall.

More than 253,000 buyers from outside of China came to the fair, the number exceeding 250,000 for the first time, organizers said. Traffic rose 30% from a year earlier, and the buyers came from 214 countries and jurisdictions.
