Casualties unclear as merchants suffer heavy financial losses

DHAKA -- Firefighters in Bangladesh's capital on Tuesday battled a ferocious blaze in a tightly packed market area.
More than six hours after the fire started, authorities told reporters by text message that it was under control, although people at the scene said some parts of the markets were still burning.
