BEIJING -- More Japanese companies operating in China now predict the Chinese economy will worsen this year than did five months ago, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry reported Tuesday.

Half of member companies responding to the chamber's survey said they expect economic conditions to be worse or somewhat worse in 2024 compared with last year, up from 39% in January.
