NEW DELHI -- India's gross domestic product grew 7.8% in the April-June period, the fastest pace in four quarters, driven by a robust services sector and government capital expenditure.

The result, up from 6.1% for the January-March period, just beat a prediction of 7.7% in a Reuters poll of economists published ahead of Thursday's release.
