TOKYO -- The chief minister of the western Indian state of Gujarat has called on Japanese semiconductor companies to invest in the hometown of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Bhupendrabhai Patel told Nikkei in Tokyo on Tuesday that with the Indian government already offering incentives to semiconductor manufacturers, "the government of Gujarat provides additional incentives."
