Indonesia GDP up 5.18%, raising recovery hopes

JAKARTA -- Indonesia's gross domestic product grew 5.18% on the year for the quarter ended June, supported by an uptick in consumer spending.

The figure, announced by the Central Statistics Agency on Friday morning, was slightly better than the 5.0% growth forecast by 16 analysts in a Reuters poll. It also marked an expansion from the previous quarter.
