Japan household spending falls 3.9% on year in January

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Japan's household spending in January fell 3.9 percent from a year earlier, declining for the fourth consecutive month, government data showed Friday.

Spending by households with two or more people in real terms was 287,173 yen ($2,700), the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said.
