TOKYO -- Japan's economy grew by an annualized 0.6% in April from the previous month, supported by a recovery in automobile shipments, according to an estimate by the Japan Center for Economic Research.

"In April, shipments of consumer goods increased, especially automobiles, and private consumption was also in a positive trend," the think tank said in a monthly report released on Wednesday.
