Japan's GDP falls 0.1% in June: JCER

Weak foreign demand outweighs domestic consumption gains

TOKYO -- Japan's real gross domestic product shrank 0.1% on the month in June as poor demand overseas led to the first decline in two months, according to statistics released Tuesday by the Japan Center for Economic Research.

Weak U.S. and European Union-bound shipments led Japan's exports 1% lower, while imports rose 1.7%.
