TOKYO -- Japan's economy expanded an annualized 0.2% in September from the previous month, reflecting a recovery in automobile production, which had slowed in August due to the impact of a typhoon, according to an estimate released by the Japan Center for Economic Research on Tuesday.

The think tank now projects Japan's gross domestic product to expand an annualized 0.9% in the July-September quarter from the previous three months.
