Malaysia posts slower economic growth at 5.3% for Q3

Exports remain strong, but global volatility looms over the Southeast Asian country

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia's economy grew 5.3% in the July-September period compared to a year earlier, slowing from the previous quarter, the central bank said Friday.

The third-quarter results match the median prediction from economists in a recent poll by Reuters, down from the 5.9% expansion between April and June.
