TOKYO -- Toshiba, Murata Manufacturing and other manufacturers hit by the New Year's Day earthquake in central Japan are gradually resuming production, but the impact on supply chains will likely last for some time.

Toshiba said Friday that it will partly resume production on Wednesday at a Kaga Toshiba Electronics facility in Nomi, Ishikawa prefecture. The subsidiary produces power semiconductors used in electric vehicles and trains.
