Impact on production of world's most advanced chips not yet clear

TAIPEI -- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. was working to assess the impact of a 6.4-magnititude earthquake on its most advanced chip production hub on Tuesday morning, with workers returning to their job sites hours after the quake struck.

The quake hit near the city of Chiayi, close to Tainan, where TSMC operates clusters of its most advanced chip plants, supplying artificial intelligence and mobile processors to Nvidia, Apple, Advanced Micro Devices and other global companies.
