North Korea vows 'thousands-fold' revenge on US over sanctions

Chinese foreign minister says Pyongyang's provocations are at a 'tipping point'

KIM JAEWON, Nikkei staff writer | China

MANILA -- North Korea on Monday lashed out at the U.N. Security Council's tougher new sanctions, saying the resolution infringes on its sovereign right to engage in normal trade and other economic activities.

Pyongyang vowed to exact "thousands-fold" revenge against the U.S. for leading the resolution. North Korea also slammed other members of the council for "raising tensions on the Korean Peninsula and threatening peace and security in the region."
