DOHA As Qatar's isolation in the Persian Gulf region drags on, it is looking to strengthen economic ties with Asian countries, aiming to import more food and sell more liquefied natural gas.

The decision by Qatar's neighbors in June to cut ties halted trade and caused a temporary panic among the Qatari people about a possible food shortage.
