Ruling nears on Chinese bid for Chicago exchange

A little-known Chinese company is trying to buy the Chicago Stock Exchange.

CHICAGO -- U.S. regulators are approaching a decision on a Chinese bid for a small American stock exchange that prompted a protest petition from 45 members of the U.S. Congress worried about foreign encroachment on the American economy.

The lawmakers argue that the Chongqing Casin Enterprise Group's proposed buyout of the Chicago Stock Exchange poses national and corporate security risks to the U.S. and want the purchase blocked.
