SINGAPORE -- Singapore's economy grew 2.9% in the April to June period from a year earlier, preliminary data showed on Friday, after a revised 3.0% expansion in the previous quarter.

The official estimate beat the median forecast for 2.7% growth from economists polled by Reuters.
