SEOUL -- South Korea's economy grew slightly in the third quarter on modest increases in government and private consumption, according to central bank data released on Thursday, bouncing back to positive growth following a contraction for the previous three months.

The Bank of Korea said in an advance estimate that gross domestic product in Asia's fourth-largest economy expanded 0.1% during the July-to-September period compared with the previous quarter. The performance fell short of a median forecast of 0.5% quarterly growth by 23 economists polled by Reuters.
