BANGKOK -- The Thai economy grew 3.0% in the July to September quarter from a year earlier, supported by a strong recovery in tourism, rising government spending and exports, the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) said Monday.

That topped a recent Reuters poll that forecast the Thai economy to expand 2.6% in the third quarter of the year. The figure was higher than the 2.2% growth logged in the second quarter.
