BANGKOK -- Thailand's House of Representatives on Friday night approved the 2024 fiscal budget's first reading after a three-month delay, giving the Pheu Thai-led government limited time to disburse 3.48 trillion baht ($101 billion) to spur economic growth.

Lawmakers voted 311-177 for the budget presented by Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin on Wednesday. The budget is the largest in a decade, up 9.3% from the previous year. It estimates economic growth of 2.7% to 3.7% this year and government revenue of 2.78 trillion baht.
