TOKYO -- Haneda Airport will rename one of its terminals next year, looking to avoid confusion among travelers when it launches new international flights ahead of the 2020 Olympics.
The Tokyo airport's International Terminal becomes Terminal 3 in March of next year, the transport ministry said Tuesday. The change coincides with the start of foreign flights at Terminal 2, which currently handles only domestic service.
Stations for the Tokyo Monorail and the Keikyu trains at the terminals also will be renamed accordingly.
The added flights at Haneda Airport, located close to central Tokyo, will aid the Japanese government's efforts to boost foreign visitors to 40 million next year.
