EU's delayed vote on Chinese EV tariffs expected next week, sources say

PARIS/HAMBURG, Germany -- The European Union is expected to vote on import tariffs on China-made electric vehicles next week, sources told Nikkei Asia, after the action was delayed from Wednesday.

The EU's 27 countries are expected to vote on a set of varying tariffs on Chinese EVs announced by the European Commission in June to level the playing field for European carmakers. Chinese EV producers benefit from government subsidies that allow them to price their exports cheaply, in their attempt to expand global market share.
