Trump announces 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports

'No exceptions,' president says as he pushes for U.S. production

WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday that he will raise tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum from around the world.

The presidential proclamations impose additional tariffs of 25% on both metals in the latest escalation of Trump's "America first" trade policy. The tariffs will take effect on March 12.
